Mrs B and family had gone for a meal at a local pub. It was their first time there. As they reached the entrance some people were coming out, and they politely held the door open for Mrs B. Unfortunately she didn’t know that there was a small step just inside the doorway, which, to make it harder to spot is the same colour as the floor around it.

Mrs B stood awkwardly on the step and went over on her ankle, suffering multiple fractures. To make matters worse this was very shortly before Christmas which resulted in some last minute change of plans as the whole family was due with Mrs B for Christmas dinner.

The pub chain denied the accident was their fault and the case progressed all but to the court steps, when the Defendant then accepted responsibility and paid compensation.
